Cleansing the Temple

Mark 11:15-17 (NIV)
"On reaching Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple courts and began driving out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves, and would not allow anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts. And as he taught them, he said, 'Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’? But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’"

Devotional:
In Mark 11:15-17, we witness Jesus cleansing the temple, a powerful demonstration of His zeal for true worship and reverence. The temple, meant for prayer and communion with God, had been reduced to a marketplace, devoid of its sacred purpose.

Just as Jesus disrupted the chaos in the temple, He desires to cleanse our hearts, removing anything that hinders genuine worship and intimacy with Him. He calls us to examine the motives behind our actions and the condition of our hearts.

Reflection Question:
In what areas of my life have I allowed distractions and worldly pursuits to overshadow my devotion to God, and how can I invite Jesus to cleanse and renew those areas today?
